As revealed by Electronic Arts, Respawn Entertainment’s
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be a story-driven single-player experience without any additional multiplayer modes, microtransactions, loot boxes, or other unnecessary fluff and padding that almost killed
Star Wars: Battlefront II at launch.
While
Fallen Order will be more similar to
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy than the
Battlefront spin-offs, it seems that it actually will feature some kind of online play, at least according to a recent PlayStation Store listing. The fact that this mode is "
optional" suggests that Respawn may be thinking about adding some
Dark Souls mechanics to their game, namely the ability to invade other players.
In From Software's critically acclaimed
Dark Souls trilogy, the
Invasion mode was a form of PvE and PvP, allowing you to help your friends and strangers battle the harder bosses or make their journey even harder by ruthlessly killing them to receive different rewards depending on your method of invasion.
At the time of writing, EA hadn't revealed any details on
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s online play.
