Quite shockingly, From Software’s next big thing,
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, will be published by Activision, one of the most controversial gaming companies operating today.
Sekiro will take place in feudal Japan, following the developer's style of intense combat action and insane difficulty, adding some gameplay mechanics and aesthetics inspired by two acclaimed franchises -
Dark Souls and
Nioh.
According to the studio,
Sekiro will be actually twice as hard as their previous offerings – including the
Dark Souls trilogy and
Bloodborne. Unlike their last projects,
Shadows Die Twice will feature a proper tutorial to give you a chance to learn the game's basic mechanics before you will get brutally murdered by a random guy with a rake – and the decision to have one was actually suggested by Activision.
In a recently released video interview, the Game Informer crew had a chance to ask
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice's lead game designer Masaru Yamamura a couple of questions and some of his answers are pretty insightful, as the team is putting a lot of effort into crafting a better and smarter "onboarding" experience for all players and prepare them for the unexpected challenges. Check it out down below:
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf”, a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death. Bound to protect a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, you become the target of many vicious enemies, including the dangerous Ashina clan. When the young lord is captured, nothing will stop you on a perilous quest to regain your honor, not even death itself.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will launch on March 22, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
