Valiant Comics is well-known in the comic book community as being the publisher of the third-largest connected comic universe following Marvel and DC. Following in the footsteps of those larger companies, it seems that Valiant is setting forth to step up their game as well.

Last week saw the beginning of this foray into the spotlight with the Bloodshot film starring Vin Diesel, which took #1 at the box office when it opened. Although we don't know how the current virus situation will effect the rest of its run in theaters, the film definitely saw a strong start.

Now, Valiant is following up by re-exploring a popular character from the 90's, Shadow Man. The Shadow Man game from decades ago was released on multiple platforms and has now been remastered to do so again. In addition, Valiant is releasing a new comic series starring the character starting in May so maybe this character is next to receive the film treatment.

“Our goal with the remaster is to give today’s generation of gamers all the features that they expect from a modern title while preserving the qualities that made Valiant’s iconic character and the original Shadow Man game such memorable classics to begin with.” - Stephen Kick, CEO Nightdive Studios

In addition to console support, the following is a list of additions to the remastered version of Shadow Man.

  • 4K widescreen display
  • Dynamic shadow mapping
  • Dynamic per-pixel lighting
  • Antialiasing, and other post-process effects
  • Higher density of particle effects
  • Refined art, audio, and assets
  • Refined gameplay experience
  • Reintroduction of missing content cut from the original game
  • Xbox, PS4, Controller Pro support
  • HDR Rendering

What do you guys think? Will you be checking out this remaster of what many call a "lost classic"? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

In Shadow Man, which is based on Valiant’s Shadow Man comics, you alternatingly travel through Liveside, the land of the living as mortal man, and explore Deadside, the place where lost souls spend an eternity in torment, as the voodoo warrior Shadow Man. Take a ride into the unexplored territories of the human psyche as you try to stop a marauding band of villains from unleashing unspeakable horrors upon the world as we know it.

The remaster of Shadow Man is slated for a 2021 release on Windows PC, Xbox, Playstation, and Switch. Meanwhile, you can pre-order May 20th's release of Shadow Man #1 at your local comic shop.
