Star Wars: Squadrons has been given players a lot to talk about, as it is a game that has promised to give them one of the most immersive Star Wars video games ever made; allowing them to play as members of the Rebel Alliance or soldiers of the Galactic Empire.

After Respawn Entertainment's critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, players have been more open to the idea of new Electronic Arts-published Star Wars games, and developer Motive Studios has already reassured players that Star Wars: Squadrons is also their vision.

Motive Studios has previously revealed that the game is mainly a multiplayer title, but they have also worked hard to deliver a proper single player mode that will see players playing through a compelling story as both Rebels and Imperials, while also allowing them to fully customise their starfighters.

Star Wars: Squadrons is still a bit over a month away from finally hitting store shelves, but players keep wanting to see more of this new Star Wars title. Fortunately, Electronic Arts confirmed that new footage of the game would be shown today, and they have kept their promise.

During today's gamescom's Opening Night Live presentation, Electronic Arts and Motive Studios shared a new trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons, which obviously showed some gameplay, but also revealed some new details about the single player campaign; showing that iconic characters like Princess Leia and Rogue Leader Wedge Antilles will also play a role in the game.

This new gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons, in particular, actually gives us a look at an extraction mission as a member of the Galactic Empire, where players will have to help the Empire destroy those scummy Rebel fighters.

Take a look:

Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron. In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest.

Star Wars: Squadrons will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday the 2nd of October.
