Fans of the Streets of Rage series have finally been granted their wish, as the series has been successfully revived thanks to Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube — three studios that have managed to give fans the game they had been waiting for for over two decades.

Streets of Rage 4's hand-drawn graphics look amazing, and the game runs at a solid 60 frames per second on pretty much every platform; at least, that was what the developers promised. But, how well does the game actually run? Thanks to the people over at Digital Foundry, we now know just how stable the latest entry in the Streets of Rage series is.

As it turns out, Digital Foundry did an analysis on the game already, but at the time they didn't have access to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, which is the version most fans were curious about; given that other platforms are considerably more powerful.

Digital Foundry has finally got hold of a copy of the game for the Nintendo Switch, and they found out that Streets of Rage 4 was ported by Seaven — which is the same studio that ws in charge of the PlayStation 4 port of the game. Similarly, both versions of the game look and run exactly the same.

While the Nintendo Switch is less powerful than the other platforms the game released on, Streets of Rage 4 runs just as smoothly on every single one of the available platforms. The only difference is that the Nintendo Switch allows players to play the game on-the-go.

Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.

Streets of Rage 4 is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam) today.
