During today's Indie World presentation hosted by Nintendo, a bunch of independent developers took the opportunity to reveal some of the titles they will be bringing not only to the Nintendo Switch, but also to other platforms. Likewise, some developers revealed that games that are currently on other platforms, will be making their way to the Switch.
Unknown Worlds Entertainment is one of the developers that fall into the latter category, as they have announced that the critically acclaimed Subnautica will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2021 — giving players the chance to explore the vast oceans of an alien planet on the go.
The good news don't stop there, as the developer has also revealed that Subnautica: Below Zero, the sequel to the critically acclaimed title, will also be releasing for the Nintendo Switch; both games becoming available at a yet-to-be-determined date on the Switch eShop.
Subnautica was originally released as early access on Windows, macOS, and Xbox One, and in 2018 the game officially exited early access, while also releasing on the PlayStation 4.
In January of 2019, Unknown Worlds Entertainment released the early access of Subnautica: Below Zero for Windows and macOS, so the Switch is officially the first home console to be revealed to get this game; as of this writing, it is unknown if the game will also launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, although this will very likely be the case in the near future.
While not much about the Nintendo Switch versions of Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero was shared, the developer did release a gameplay trailer that will give players a pretty good idea of what to expect in terms of graphics, so be sure to check it out down below.

We have been hard at work behind-the-scenes, in partnership with Shiny Shoe and Unity Professional Services, to bring both titles to the Nintendo platform. We are excited to finally be able to share this work with all of you, as difficult as it was to keep a secret and hope that it was worth that wait.
Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero are expected to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2021.
