Today Limited Run Games hosted their LRG3 presentation — which was streamed live this afternoon, actually — in which the developer/publisher revealed a bunch of games that will be getting physical releases. For those unfamiliar with Limited Run Games, it is a company that makes physical copies of games that are hard to come by these days.
It isn't only video games that are no longer available, as Limited Run Games also helps independent developers release physical copies of their best-sellers, and also produces physical copies of games classic games that may have been recently re-released.
Fans of the long-running Shantae series will be ecstatic to find out that Limited Run Games hand developer WayForward have announced that the very first game in the series — which released for the Game Boy Color all the way back in 2002 — will be getting a physical re-release.
The good news don't stop there, as this re-release of the original Shantae is actually getting a physical cartridge and box for the Game Boy Color. That's right, a fully functional cartridge to be played on Nintendo's all-time classic handheld console.
Limited Run Games has confirmed that Shantae will also be re-released on the Nintendo Switch, and will be getting a physical release. Pre-orders for both the Game Boy Color and Nintendo Switch versions of the game are expected to open at a yet-to-be-determined date in September of this year. The developer also promises that more details about this phenomenal re-release will be revealed at a later date.
