Warframe was originally released in 2013, and it has since been quite the phenomenon — especially since it is a free-to-play title that actually does justice to this video game subgenre, as microtransactions are not game-breaking, nor required to fully enjoy the game.
Developer Digital Extremes has been supporting the game for a solid 7 years now, and today they have announced that Warframe will be released on PlayStation 5 rather sooner than later, which is quite the exciting news, as it won't just be a simple port of the original.
Before we continue, it is worth mentioning that Digital Extremes' announcement doesn't particularly specify when the game will be launching on Sony's next-gen platform, but the developer reassures that it will be at some point before the end of the year.
With that out of the way, Digital Extremes did reveal that Warframe on PlayStation 5 is getting the enhanced graphics treatment, and will be taking full advantage of the PlayStation 5's DualSense haptic feedback to deliver an even more immersive video gaming experience.
Dave Kudirka, Lead Producer at Digital Extremes, has mentioned that Sony's new hardware allows them to push Warframe to its very limits, and this allows them to add upgrades such as dynamic lighting and all of the other experience-enhancing upgrades that the next generation of consoles will be offering.
"With PlayStation 5, we get to harness improved hardware architecture and feature suites that upgrade players' experiences all at once, which is a pretty exciting thing for us. We don't just get to run our tech better, we get the chance to advance it. That means bringing you tech upgrades like dynamic lighting, enabling you to play with friends across generations with cross-save and cross-play, and so much more," explained Kudirka.
He then added: "We've had next-gen consoles in our sights both as gaming fans and as a developer for a while, and our new rendering system was designed to take full advantage of the technology — not just as an upgrade, but as a base that we can continue to build on and expand over time."
Kudirka goes into full details in a post on the official PlayStation Blog, and it is quite lengthy, so it is best that you check out the recently posted entry in order to get more acquainted with all of the upgrades that Warframe on PlayStation 5 will be getting by clicking right here.
We do, however, share a comparison pic that can give you a pretty good idea of what the game will look like on PlayStation 5. Plus, we also got an official trailer for the next-gen version of Warframe, so be sure to check both of them out down below!
