Warframe is a third-person action-adventure game that doesn't really need an introduction, as the game has been quite popular pretty much since it was first release in 2013 for PC. The game was later ported to home consoles, which even includes the Nintendo Switch — so pretty much everyone can play the game on their platform of choice.

Developer Digital Extremes set out to deliver quite an amazing co-op experience, and the best thing about Warframe is that the game is actually free to play. Furthermore, it isn't a free-to-play title that doesn't flood players with microtransactions in order to progress.

As a matter of fact, Warframe has been often praised by making a proper use of microtransactions, and is one of the many, many reasons why the game has managed to become such a household name this generation of consoles.

Digital Extremes has been constantly supporting their game since day one, and one of the biggest updates yet comes in the form of Warframe: The Deadlock Protocol, which is basically an expansion that adds the time-bending Protea as the 43rd Warframe, expands on the origins of the Corpus, and gives players to face an upgraded version of the Jackal boss fight.

The best news is that Warframe: The Deadlook Protocol has become available today for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, and is also available for free.

As per the developers announcement, the Nintendo Switch version of Warframe: The Deadlock Protocol is getting a shader remaster, although they also mention that the update's download size will appear larger(1.71GB) than the actual total size, which is around 1GB, so players should make sure that they have at least 2GB free on their console before they proceed to download it.

Check it out:

The Corpus Board of Directors is in shambles. Infighting has ground its System-spanning operation to a screeching halt. Eager to fill the power vacuum himself, Nef Anyo has initiated The Deadlock Protocol. The Deadlock Protocol update sheds new light on the origins of the Corpus, introduces the time-bending Warframe, Protea and includes a remastered Corpus fleet full of innovative threats and escalating security measures.

Warframe: The Deadlock Protocol is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One today.
