RuneScape: Dragonwilds left Early Access today. Jagex posted the 1.0 notes and flipped the game live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Jagex Launcher.

That is the first time a RuneScape title has shipped on consoles in the franchise's 25-year run. Xbox Game Pass has it on day one. PS5 also sits in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Crossplay is on for multiplayer worlds, the world browser, dedicated servers, and invite codes.

Executive producer Jesse America said the Early Access crowd shaped every update from April 15, 2025 onward, and that 1.0 is the start of a longer build, not a finish line. The headline content of 1.0 is the Scorned Wilderness. The new region includes a buildable Hub and a raid space where building is off because the dragon is in the way. The new quest is Regicide. The new end-game boss is Kuldra, the God-Eater. Black Dragons join the roster with Goblin Thugs, poisonshot archers, Garou Exiles and Lightning Berserkers, Rotsworn Reanimators, Skeletal Blightshot, Black Knight Crusaders, Blazing Black Knights, and Stormpact Demons.

The gear players can attain catches up to what you would expect in Runescape. Rune plate, rune weapons, black dragonhide, magic bows, ancestral robes, wands and staves, then dragon armor pieces including Kuldra's Wrath and a Dragon Kiteshield drop. New mats sit behind higher tools: Runite and Luminite need an Adamant pick or better. Magic wood wants a Rune axe. Vis Fibers, Draconic Vis Wax, and Vis Cloth feed the late crafting chain. An Advanced Spinning Wheel and storage benches try to cut the inventory tax.

Wands are a new magic weapon type: faster, more mobile, lower raw damage than staves, with knockdowns, burns, and slows. Skill spells got a pass across Attack, Ranged, Magic, Mining, Woodcutting, Construction, Artisan, and Runecrafting. Home Teleport to a claimed bed costs Law runes. Divine Rock turns dropped ore into a personal vein. Storage Ledger auto-sorts into linked chests. Parries now give stamina back. Visceral follow-ups after a parry are optional. You can cancel swings, gathers, and some casts with a dodge or block. Controllers map primary attacks to R1/RB and specials to the trigger.

Ashenfall is still the main contient. It is a hidden continent in the RuneScape world, not part of the MMORPG Runescape or Old School Runescape. You skill, gather, build, and fight in co-op with up to three other people, or you go alone. Early Access already added more regions, Fishing, Farming, and the Umbral Sands expansion on PC before this console drop. Jagex says the live map is about three times the size it was at the April 2025 launch.

1.0.1 is already on the calendar for October with LOD fixes and Magic Tree Seeds. The wider roadmap points into 2027. America framed that as years of updates, not a one-and-done survival box.

Physical Deluxe is the collector stack: SteelBook, embroidered melee/magic/ranged patches, holographic character cards, and the digital extras. Digital Deluxe is on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Standard digital is on every platform listed above.

If you lived in Early Access, the useful question is whether your world and progress survive the 1.0 cut. The patch notes treat 1.0 as a content and systems jump on the same game, not a wipe announcement. Confirm your platform's transfer notes before you assume a year-old Steam base is waiting on a PS5.

If you are new, this is a survival RPG with RuneScape skills, not the MMO. There is no Grand Exchange lobby. There is a continent, a queen dragon, and a crafting tree that now goes through rune and dragon. The Black Knights and Garou are there. So is the soundtrack that lifts old RuneScape themes and adds new ones.

Console players get analog movement Jagex spent the last stretch mapping. Camera deadzone in the middle third of the screen is meant to keep sprints and sidesteps from yanking the view. Switch 2 gets Nintendo Game Chat on top of the same crossplay pool.

Fifteen months of Early Access is a long public beta. 1.0 is the day Jagex asks gamers and fans to treat Ashenfall as a finished product. Will it live up to the hype and be a classic like Old School Runescape?
