Battlefield 6 x Dead Space Convergence Event Is Live With A 16-Player PvE Mode And The Pulse Rifle

Something has gone very wrong at Area 51. Electronic Arts' Battlefield 6 x Dead Space crossover is now live, bringing a limited-time Halloween event called Dead Space: Convergence to both Battlefield 6 and Battlefield REDSEC.

The event kicked off yesterday (October 20th) and runs until November 10th, according to EA's Season 5 patch notes. The official Battlefield account marked the launch with a new trailer, promising players a chance to destroy the Marker, fight hordes of Marked Soldiers, and wield the Pulse Rifle.

What Is Marker Incursion?

The centerpiece of the event is Marker Incursion, a new 16-player PvE mode. EA's official event guide explains that squads push into corrupted territory, battle waves of hostile forces, and destroy Marker Shrines as they work toward the source of the disturbance. The end goal is to stop the Marker's influence before it triggers a catastrophic event known as Convergence.

The main enemies are Marked Soldiers, former military personnel who have fallen under the Marker's influence. According to EA, they "see the battlefield differently, treating allies as enemies and defending the source of their obsession at any cost." Marker Shrines, meanwhile, are smaller replicas built by those affected by the signal, and destroying them is key to weakening the Marker's hold on an area.

EA describes the event as a non-canon "what if" scenario. In the story, Pax Armata forces arrive at Area 51 hoping to secure classified technology, only to uncover a Marker that had been hidden within the facility for years. Soldiers soon report violent hallucinations, strange symbols, and entire units turning on one another.

The DS-23 Pulse Rifle Makes Its Battlefield Debut

Fans of Dead Space will immediately recognize the event's headline weapon. The DS-23 Pulse Rifle is available as a Battle Pickup during Marker Incursion, marking its first appearance in a Battlefield game. EA notes that the rifle can also be found in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale for the length of the event.

Dead Space Rewards And Semiconductors

The event introduces a limited-time currency called Semiconductors. Players earn it by completing event challenges, eliminating Marked Soldiers in Marker Incursion, and finding it in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale. Semiconductors can then be spent on rewards, including:

  • The Aegis VII Soldier Skin
  • The RIG-Certified SMG Weapon Skin
  • Dead Space Weapon Stickers
  • Soldier Patches
  • Player Card Backgrounds
  • Additional event rewards

The Aegis VII Soldier Skin is the star of the lineup, inspired by the industrial engineering suits that the Dead Space series is known for. There are also Dead Space-themed bundles in the in-game store, which are optional purchases.

A Long History Between The Two Series

This is far from the first time the two franchises have crossed over. EA points out that players found Isaac Clarke's Advanced Suit helmet in Battlefield 3's Aftermath expansion, and that Battlefield Hardline, made by original Dead Space studio Visceral Games, was full of references to the series. More recently, Battlefield 2042 ran its own Outbreak event with Dead Space rewards.

The crossover is part of Battlefield 6 Season 5: Siege of Vegas, which launched on October 13th. The season added the Las Vegas Strip and the Area 51 map, which features a crater leading into a classified underground facility. That underground base is where the Marker has been hiding, so the event slots neatly into the season's setting.

The timing also lines up with a big push to bring in new players. EA made Battlefield 6 free to play on PlayStation and Steam from October 15th to October 19th, wrapping up the day before the crossover went live. Since Marker Incursion is a co-op mode against AI enemies, it is a more relaxed option for anyone who tried the game during the free weekend and wants a break from regular multiplayer. EA notes that the event requires Battlefield 6 or Battlefield REDSEC along with the latest game updates.

Will you be spending your Halloween fighting through Marker Incursion, or are you only jumping in long enough to unlock the Aegis VII skin?
