Battlefield 6 turns one years old this month, and Season 5 is the start of year two for the multiplayer game and REDSEC. EA posted the look-ahead in a blog post on October 1. The post talks about the combat changes they are looking at reworking or changing and more of what players can expect in the upcoming season.
Year one, was four seasons, the return of Railway to Golmud and Tsuru Reef, and Naval Warfare. Progression got faster. Land, air, and sea balance is still an open job. Aim assist was pulled toward the Open Beta feel. A gunplay update already moved recoil and body-damage multipliers so close fights and time-to-kill hit harder, while long range asks for more precision and sniper sweet spots got a pass. Season 5 is the next layer, and EA says anything in the post can still move, slip, or get cut if Battlefield Labs does not like it.
The shared changes hit Battlefield 6 and REDSEC together. Vehicle health regen and damage are being retuned so infantry get more out of a flank. Anti-air cannons on mobile AA get better against aircraft. Laser designators need a steadier track to hold a lock. Attachments get a diversity pass. Some weapon, gadget, and pose animations get a polish.
Vehicle roles are the specific list of things that they will be changing. Little Bird splash against infantry goes down. Secondary turrets fire faster and overheat faster. Main battle tank rounds are tuned for the targets they are supposed to hit. Missiles get a balance pass. Air resupply pads stop sharing one cooldown: a jet can rearm right after a helicopter leaves the pad.
REDSEC has some things coming to it as well. Rapid Royale is the new mode, a shorter, hotter battle royale. Open and Elite Series competitive play is coming back. Ranked matchmaking bands get tighter. A reconnect puts you back in a live match after a crash. Casual battle royale gets recommended drop zones that point new players at loot instead of an instant squad fight. Armor application is faster.
Class kits are being rewritten as well. Drone Specialist and Hazmat Breacher training paths are out. Engineers start with the guided function on the Aim-Guided Launcher already unlocked. Support's Supply Bag and Smoke Launcher move into the loot pool, replaced by Supply Pouches and Deployable Cover. Recon's drone goes to loot. The Handheld Jammer takes the slot.
Training paths get four levels each. Assault cuts the movement penalty for firing on the move, speeds passive regen and revive-sickness recovery, and has high-explosive launcher blasts spit five fused submunitions. Engineer gets more explosive resistance, faster armor replating, and launcher hits that freeze a vehicle for five seconds. Support drags and revives faster, sprints quicker under fire, and puts a plate on a revived teammate. Recon spots on damage, spots nearby enemies after a down, and can jam redeploy points. Every class gets the same level-four gadget resupply bump, which resets on death.
Weapon meta should change too. KTS100 Mk8, SCW-10, SVDM, SG553R, and KV9 are on the list. A pile of categories need one more bullet to kill against armor past a set range: 9mm and 10mm PDWs past 9 meters, several 7.62x39 guns inside 31 meters, 5.56 and 5.45 rifles and LMGs past 46 meters. 7.62 DMRs need an extra bullet past 21 meters and lose the boosted headshot on downed players.
The September 30 community update is the content side of the same season. Two new desert maps, built around a Vegas strip fight, open phase one and go into Portal. A third Vegas map arrives later in the season. Rapid Royale Trios and Solos start with the season. Gauntlet leaves the active playlist. Battle royale duos are planned to return later. Server browser is later in the season, not day one. Water support spreads through Portal, and the Crashed Carrier off Fort Lyndon becomes a buildable point of interest. Full patch notes land the day before the season goes live. EA has not put a calendar date on that day in this post.
2027 is a paragraph, not a roadmap. EA says new content for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC keeps coming, with work on vehicle feel, gunplay, a better firing range, animation updates, and a review of gadget and vehicle explosives. Bolt-action snipers are on the review list, including how everyone else is supposed to fight back. That is the year-two promise: the seasonal machine does not stop at five.
