Following the recent launch of
We Happy Few's update brining the long-awaited
Survival, Night’s Watch, and
Sandbox game modes to the core experience, developer Compulsion Games has announced that
WHF's very first story expansion will be launching this Thursday, on April 4th.
According to the Montreal-based game developer, the DLC, titled
They Came From Below, sees "
NPCs James and Roger return in an all-new We Happy Few story. Wellington Wells stands besieged by a robot uprising, but the mechanized menace isn’t the only thing threatening to tear the pair apart. Play as Roger and team up with your boyfriend James to Find Dr. Faraday, explore a vast underground laboratory, and discover the source of the robot invaders before it’s too late!"
You will be able to buy the
They Came From Below DLC as a standalone purchase for $7.99, but those who own
WHF's Season Pass (currently priced at $19,99) will get the upcoming expansion "for free."
Considering that Compulsion Games' recent project released to mixed reviews (currently sitting at 62-67% scores on Metacritic), the Canadian game developer will have to work hard to regain the trust of gamers. As a reminder, the studio is now part of the Microsoft Studios team alongside 343 Industries, The Coalition, The Initiative, inXile Entertainment, Mojang, Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, Playground Games, Rare, Turn 10 Studios, Undead Labs and Microsoft's Global Publishing group.
We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You’ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don’t take kindly to people who won’t abide by their not-so-normal rules. Discover the retrofuturistic city’s dark history as you play through the intertwined narratives of three quietly rebellious citizens of Wellington Wells, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, as they face their pasts, prepare for the future, and engage in activities that aren’t exactly status quo in the artificially enthused society.
We Happy Few is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW!
