Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is the name of the brand-new entry in Sega's critically acclaimed Wonder Boy series, which is a remake of the original Monster World IV. The best news is that some members of the original team are involved the game's development, including series creator Ryuichi Nishizawa.

As revealed by IGN, it isn't only Ryuichi Nishizawa who's coming back to work on Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, as original composer Shinichi Sakamoto, character designer Maki Ōzora, and creative manager Takanori Kurihara are also involved in this exciting new project.

We still don't know much about this new game, but we do know that it is being developed by StudioArtDink and ININ Games, and that Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is expected to be releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch at some point in 2021.

If that information alone didn't do it for you, we still have some more great news about the game, as the developers also mention that an official reveal of the game, alongside some proper gampelay for Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World, will be released this Saturday the 29th of August during gamescom 2020.

The last official entry in the series was Monster World IV, which is actually the game that introduced us to Asha in the first place. If we get more technical, the latest game to be released was Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap, which is a remaster of Wonder Boy III: Dragon's Trap, that released in 2017.

Some people also consider Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom to be Wonder Boy V— including me, to be quite honest — although it is officially a spiritual successor to the Wonder Boy series; one that actually makes direct references to events, characters, enemies, and locations within the Wonder Boy universe.

It will definitely be interesting what the developers do with this Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World remake; after the release of Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, it has some pretty big shoes to fill. Again, this is very exciting news for fans of the popular, long-running Wonder Boy series.

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World is expected to release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2021.
