Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of the original Yakuza 2 released for the PlayStation 4 in 2006. The game was initially revealed to release here in the West in 2018, but the series, at least up until then, had mainly been a PlayStation exclusive.
Interestingly enough, Sega and Ryū ga Gotoku(Yakuza Studio) have been porting the Yakuza series to PC since August of 2018, and it wasn't until November of 2019 that the developers finally — and quite surprisingly, to be honest — announced that the series would also be releasing on Xbox Game Pass.
The first Yakuza title to become available on Xbox Game Pass was Yakuza 0 — a prequel to the events taking place in the original Yakuza game — followed by Yakuza Kiwami, which is a remake of the very first entry in the series; paving the way for more Yakzua titles to eventually release.
With the announcement in November of last year, Sega and Ryū ga Gotoku revealed that three games in the series would be released on Xbox Game Pass, and today Yakuza Kiwami 2, the third and final title previously revealed, has finally become available.
In order to celebrate the release of Yakuza Kiwami 2, Sega has released an accolades trailer that will give players a pretty good idea of what to expect from this phenomenal title. Now, all players need is for the developers to announce even more Yakuza games for Xbox players to sink their teeth in.
