Grinding Gear Games is giving Path of Exile 2 players another chance to test their speed and skill with a fresh set of speedrun races. The Last of the Druids event kicks off on March 29th and runs through April 12th, offering three separate races that spotlight the newly introduced Druid class and its 21 fresh skills. These events are open to everyone on both PC and console, with a shared prize pool that makes them accessible regardless of platform.

Each race challenges players to be the first to defeat Tavakai in Act 4 within a Solo Self-Found Fate of the Vaal environment using a fixed layout. While the races are not Hardcore, death carries a penalty: characters are frozen in place for two and a half minutes before they can move again. This adds real tension and forces careful play, especially with the inclusion of the new Fate of the Vaal league content for the first time in a race setting.

The races will be streamed live on Twitch with shoutcasting from ZiggyD and RaizQT. For Race 2, CrimsonCasts will step in for ZiggyD. Co-streaming is encouraged, so players can follow along with their favorite creators or watch the official broadcast.

Event Schedule (PDT)

  • Race 1: March 29 at 12:00 PM
  • Race 2: April 5 at 1:00 PM
  • Race 3: April 12 at 1:00 PM

To participate, simply click the “Join” button for the chosen race in the Character Select screen and create a new character. Once the race begins, you’ll spawn in and the timer starts immediately. Ladder links will be posted so spectators can track leaders in real time and compare times after each event.

Prizes and Rewards

The top player in each of the eight classes (Ranger, Sorceress, Witch, Monk, Warrior, Mercenary, Huntress, and the new Druid) will receive a Demigod’s Virtue unique item. That means eight Demigod’s Virtues will be awarded per race. Future race events will cycle through other Demigod’s items, eventually forming a complete armor set including weapons. These items go into a Remove-Only stash tab in your core leagues, where you can equip them, showcase them, trade them, or convert them into a microtransaction using the /convertracereward command.

Additional prizes include Official Path of Exile 2 Displates for the fastest time in each class across all three races, and a custom Divination Card design awarded to the overall fastest player of the entire series.

Important Rules

  • Inappropriate character names (including those that skirt the rules) will result in disqualification from that race and future events.
  • GGG staff are excluded from winning prizes.
  • For this specific series, Incinerate and Flame Breath cannot be selected in the Gemcutting menu due to an upcoming fix in patch 0.5.0 involving their interaction with Oil Grenade.

These races are completely free to enter and are designed to celebrate skill, preparation, and the introduction of the Druid class. With 21 new skills available, the meta is wide open, and the fixed-layout Fate of the Vaal environment ensures a level playing field focused purely on execution and routing.

The addition of the Druid makes this series especially exciting. Players have been eager to test the class in a competitive setting, and these races provide the perfect opportunity to see how it performs at the highest level of speedrunning. Whether you main an established class or want to push the new Druid to its limits, there is a clear path to glory and some very cool rewards.

The Path of Exile 2 community has always embraced these race events as a way to showcase talent, discover optimal strategies, and simply have fun competing. With the Druid now in the mix and new league content included, the upcoming races are shaping up to be some of the most entertaining yet.

If you plan to participate, make sure to join early so you’re ready when the countdown hits zero. For everyone else, the Twitch streams with professional shoutcasting will be the best way to follow the action and see the top runners in real time.

Good luck to all competitors. The Druid’s debut in competitive speedrunning is here, and the new skills are sure to create some unforgettable moments. Whether you’re racing for glory or just watching to see how the meta evolves, these three events are going to deliver high-level Path of Exile 2 gameplay at its finest. The Last of the Druids race series begins March 29th. See you in the ladder.
