Some recent information first spotted by Senior Analyst at Niko Partners Daniel Ahmad has revealed that
Assassin's Creed is Ubisoft's best-selling series with over an impressive 140 million units sold since the franchise was first introduced in 2007.
While the
Assassin's Creed series reigns supreme amongst other franchises, the second place goes to the
Just Dance series — which has sold over 70 million copies since its inception, and has been played by over 120 million players.
According to
Ubisoft's Facts and Figures press kit, the
Assassin's Creed series has been played by a grand total of 95 million unique players — which is a pretty great feat in and of itself.
Third place goes to the
Far Cry series, which has managed to sell a very respectable 50 million units sold since the release of
Far Cry 2 all the way back in October of 2008. The reason why Ubisoft doesn't include the first title is because they didn't own the rights at the time — as the first game was actually developed by Crytek and not Ubisoft Montreal.
Assassin's Creed is an ongoing series and, even after a solid 12 years in the market, Ubisoft likely has have big plans for it going forward. Whatever it is that Ubisoft decides to do with the series, fans can rest assured that it will be something that will not disappoint.
