Anvil Game Studios has officially brought Holdfast: Nations At War to consoles, expanding its massive historical roleplay shooter to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (Steam). Launching today, July 9th, 2025, the title delivers immersive large-scale warfare with full crossplay, uniting console and PC players in epic 150+ player battles across land and sea.

Originally released on Steam in Early Access back in 2017, Holdfast has built a reputation as one of the most community-driven, large-scale multiplayer games on the market. Now, a brand-new generation of players can experience its massive battlefields, dynamic roleplay systems, and rich historical settings.

Holdfast: Nations At War isn’t just one war it’s multiple theaters of conflict wrapped into a single game. Players can:

  • Join the Napoleonic Wars, standing shoulder-to-shoulder to deliver synchronized musket volleys.
  • Storm WW1 trenches, charging at the sound of a whistle into no man’s land.
  • Set sail in massive naval battles during the golden age of sail.
  • Relive the Gallipoli campaign aboard mighty dreadnaughts.

This multi-era warfare delivers unmatched variety, with artillery bombardments, cavalry charges, sea warfare, and trench sieges all within one game.

One of the most unique features of Holdfast is its tight-knit and active community. Through proximity voice chat, players can roleplay as officers, line infantry, medics, sailors, and more whether you’re a serious tactician or just in it for chaotic laughs, the game provides the tools to make it your own.

With 27 unique classes, players can customize their approach and help their team succeed in roles ranging from front-line assault to rear support, cavalry, or naval command.

Customization and Progression

The game also features over 100 unlockable cosmetics, allowing players to display their experience through:

Custom heads

Unique backpacks

Specialized melee and ranged weapons

Emotes and battlefield shouts

From officers in pristine uniforms to ragged trench survivors, each soldier can showcase their personality and allegiance.

Align with major historical powers such as:

  • British Empire
  • French Empire
  • Russian Empire
  • Kingdom of Prussia
  • Austrian Empire
  • Kingdom of Italy

Or take sides in WW1 battles as part of the Allied or Central Powers. With every match, you write your own page of alternate history.

Anvil Game Studios emphasizes that Holdfast is more than a game it’s a growing, evolving community. From casual roleplayers to dedicated regiments (clans), the multiplayer sandbox fosters social interaction, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments.

The development team, based in Malta, remains focused on player-to-player connection and promises continued support and updates based on community feedback.

Holdfast: Nations At War is available now on:

  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PlayStation 5
  • PC (Steam and Steam Deck)

With full crossplay, proximity chat, and multi-era chaos, it’s one of 2025’s most ambitious multiplayer titles. Join the frontlines, man the cannons, or lead your regiment to glory the battlefield awaits. Will you be joining the frontlines?
