As reported by Polish website Bankier, Bloober Team and Gun Media have recently revealed that
Layers of Fear 2 will be releasing for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Q2 2019, meaning that the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 sleeper hit will debut at some point between April and June this year. According to Bankier,
Layers of Fear 2 will be priced at $29,99, but it may be subject to change.
Bloober Team has also released
Layers of Fear 2's official synopsis. It reads as follows: "
Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person, psychological thriller, horror video game with an emphasis on exploration and story. Players control a Hollywood actor who heeds the call of an enigmatic director to take on the lead role in a film shot aboard an ocean liner. Darkness surrounds as you stand silently in the spotlight, the only sounds to be heard over your heartbeat are the distant breaking of waves against the hull and the sound of cameras pointed in your direction preserving this moment for eternity. A deep and commanding voice rises from the distance. Act. What part will you play?"
Layers of Fear 2 is partially inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's weirdest movies and Georges Méliès' spectacular illusion shows, allowing the player to explore a boat that hides more secrets than meets the eye, and just like in the first
Layers, the second installment will be full of disturbing imagery.
