A fresh look at Lies of P: Overture was shared during Summer Game Fest today, but the real announcement is that the DLC expansion for the critically acclaimed action RPG is available today!

While most games shown at Summer Game Fest are months, if not years, away from release, NEOWIZ and Round8 Studio surprised us all by shadow dropping the highly anticipated DLC.

As a quick reminder, Lies of P is a dark fantasy action game — a macabre Soulslike inspired by the classic story of Pinocchio. In the game, Pinocchio is trying to find the mysterious Mr. Geppetto, with his journey taking him to Krat, a Belle Époque-inspired city whose humanity has been lost to madness and killer puppets.

Lies of P: Overture is the dramatic prequel to the original game, transporting players back to Krat "in its unseen grandeur on the verge of collapse."

"Follow the path of the Legendary Stalker, uncover hidden secrets, and endure relentless battles that will define the past and future of Lies of P," the DLC's description teases.

Lies of P: Overture is a dramatic prequel to the acclaimed soulslike action RPG, Lies of P. It transports you to the city of Krat in its final days of haunting, late-19th-century Belle Époque beauty. On the brink of the Puppet Frenzy massacre, you follow a legendary Stalker—a mysterious guide—through untold stories and chilling secrets. As Geppetto’s deadly puppet, you’ll journey through Krat and its surroundings, uncover hidden backstories, and face epic battles that shape the past and future of Lies of P.

Lies of P was a historic debut for our team, and it felt fitting to expand the story we’ve crafted in the most noteworthy fashion during Summer Game Fest with a surprise shadow drop on all platforms,” said Jiwon Choi, game director, ROUND8 Studio. “This expansion allowed us to complete the first arc of our story, and we hope our community feels the same love and support as they did for the base game. Please stay tuned for what awaits Geppetto’s Puppet.”

Lies of P: Overture is now available for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, and priced at $29.99. It does require the base game to play, which is also priced at $29.99. For those who didn't get around to playing Lies of P when it originally launched, there is an Overture bundle available through PlayStation that comes with the base game and the DLC at a discount for PS Plus members (available through June 18th).

In addition to today's DLC launch, the base game has also received a patch that adds two new difficulty settings and two new challenging boss battle modes. The boss battle modes are accessible via the Hotel Krat Stargazer once you've seen at least one base game ending, while Battle Memories allow you to relive battles against previously defeated bosses with new difficulty tiers.
