In just a few days, Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, will join the roster of playable character for Marvel Rivals. One of two remaining Fantastic Four members, Human Torch will ignite the battle when he arrives on February 21st. And today, NetEase shared his official character reveal trailer.
The trailer showcases gameplay for Human Torch, who joins as a Duelist, the Marvel Rivals version of your standard damage deal archtype.
Looking at the trailer, Johnny Storm is primarily an aerial-based character, similar to Iron Man and Storm. His primary attack is a fireball that leaves a small burning area on the ground where it hits. There are six fireballs that appear to recharge over time rather than having to be reloaded. He also has a dive attack in which he crashes into the ground, dealing damage to everyone within the area. Another ability lets him create a square of fire with any enemy who passes through the fiery walls receiving damage. For his ultimate ability, Human Torch creates multiple fire tornadoes that that move around and deal damage.
The trailer also shows off human torch's team-up with storm. it appears that when she casts her ultimate ability -- also a tornado -- human torch is able to set fire to it, presumably dealing even more damage.
Johnny Storm is the Fantastic Four's resident hothead heartthrob, always managing to look cool while turning up the heat! Johnny joined his sister on a wild experimental space mission in the hopes of visiting the stars, instead, he became the brightest star of them all with the power to ignite his body as the Human Torch!
The Human Torch adds an intense flare to every battle with scorching flames. When he's not busy burning Dracula's legions with flames brighter than the sun itself, he's soaring across the city to gather Chronovium and scavenge for parts of the Timestream Reintegration Device.
Johnny Storm/Human Torch arrives in Marvel Rivals on February 21st alongside the Fantastic Four's fourth member, the Thing (who also received a gameplay trailer today). As is the case with all of Marvel Rivals' characters, both of these new heroes will be completely free to play as, no purchase or XP grinding necessary.
In addition to Human Torch and The Thing, the Season 1 mid-season update for Marvel Rivals will also feature a new map, Central Park.
At the launch of Season 1 back in January, Marvel Rivals added Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic along with the Sanctum Sanctorum and Midtown maps. Season 1 also featured the new game mode, Doom Match.
