Team Ninja and Platinum Games unveiled a new trailer for Ninja Gaiden 4 during the Xbox Games Showcase, confirming the game's release date as October 21, 2025. And if the trailer is any indication, this is the full-throttle return fans have been waiting for. Feast your eyes upon the trailer down below:
After the lukewarm reception to Ninja Gaiden 3, fans weren’t sure what to expect. But thanks to Team Ninja’s post-Nioh redemption arc and the brilliant inclusion of Platinum Games, the hack-and-slash maestros behind Bayonetta Ninja Gaiden 4 is striking back and looks absolutely feral with brutality in the best possible way.
The trailer opens with a fiery exchange between characters:
"Watch your back, Yakumo. You're a wanted criminal now,” says Seori.
And then? Utter chaos. As we are introduced to new protagonist Yakumo, a Raven Ninja whose stylish swordplay instantly makes a statement.
"I'll kill the Dark Dragon myself. It's my mission as a Raven Ninja,” he declares, just before a foe slides apart in glorious slow motion after a clean cut.
All of that is followed by a barrage of visceral action sequences: a drill weapon that liquefies enemies, a colossal hammer capable of seismic crowd control, and a dozen weapons that all look ready to headline their own spinoffs. Yakumo slashes through wave after wave of enemy ninjas and grotesque demons in what feels like 15 seconds of uninterrupted carnage. And then the trailer throws another surprise:
"Ryu, there's something I need your help with.”
Enter Ryu Hayabusa the iconic character himself absolutely dismantling monsters with classic Flying Swallows, flawless dodges, and that signature Ninpo magic. In a nod to older titles, the camera drops to a fixed position when Ryu unleashes his elemental fury less cinematic, maybe, but faithful to Ninja Gaiden’s roots.
As for the enemies? Expect mutated sharks with internal skeletons (because why not), screen-filling bosses, and plenty of insane creature designs that scream don’t think, just slash and kill the scary monster.
From what we've seen, Ninja Gaiden 4 isn’t just a comeback it’s a reinvention with all the style, violence, and razor-sharp combat the series is known for. With Team Ninja’s refined gameplay sensibilities and Platinum Games’ flair for flair, this is shaping up to be a blood-slicked ballet of carnage—and fans are already sharpening their blades.
Ninja Gaiden 4 launches October 21, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Expect more details as we get closer to launch but if this trailer is any sign, it's time to get your ninjacoin ready and sharpen your blades.
