Without the shadow of a doubt, Capcom's Resident Evil Village is already one of the most highly anticipated titles of next year, and the developers have made a phenomenal job fans of the series excited for what's to come; not to mention the fine job they've done making trailers look disturbing.

Resident Evil Village doesn't even look like a Resident Evil game — for all the right reasons, mind you — as the developers have decided to make this new village a character in itself. In fact, the people over at Capcom have made some deliberate decisions to make Resident Evil Village look different than Resident Evil VII: Biohazard.

Capcom has just released a new behind the scenes video for Resident Evil Village, where the developers mention that — while the atmosphere in the game may look brighter than before — the game will be as terrifying, if not more, as the previous title, while also making it look beautiful; in terms of graphics, of course.

According to the developers, focusing on Ethan Winters was the next logical step after completing Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, which is the main reason why they decided, very early on, that Ethan would be Resident Evil Village's main protagonist.

Resident Evil Village Director Morimasa Sato reveals that the game is even bigger in scope than Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, and that the village itself is actually quite massive; giving players a sense of freedom when exploring every corner.

"We've put a lot of emphasis on letting you play the game the way you would act if you were there in real life. Letting you plan, face, and overcome obstacles as if you were there in person. We've focused on expanding those aspects compared to Resident Evil VII: Biohazard," mentions Sato.

Details like the one above, and many more, are shared in this new behind the scenes video for Resident Evil Village — shared down below — so be sure to check it out.

Have a look:

Years after the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Ethan Winters has started over with his wife Mia, finally living in peace and putting the past behind them. However, Chris Redfield, the legendary hero from previous Resident Evil games, suddenly disrupts their life, throwing a devastated Ethan into a new and twisted nightmare in search of answers.

Resident Evil Village is expected to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.
