Rumor has it that Capcom is already working on a reimagined version of 1999's
Resident Evil 3, that apparently is the studio's "
top priority," following the outstanding critical and sales success of the recent
RE2. As a reminder,
RE2 has sold over 4 million copies since its January launch, currently sitting at a highly impressive 90% score on Metacritic as one of the best-reviewed video games of the year.
Capcom is seemingly embracing the idea of remaking older
Resident Evil games, as the company has recently posted a pretty fascinating screenshot from
RE2, teasing the return of the so-called Nemesis.
"
Clearly something or someone doesn't understand the concept of doors... What do YOU think happened to the wall here?," Capcom said on Twitter, embedding a screenshot from
RE2 featuring a huge hole in the wall. In case you're missing the context, the events of
RE3 take place right before, during, and after
RE2, putting the spotlight on Jill Valentine's struggle to unveil the origin of the t-Virus.
Considering that we know literally next to nothing about Capcom's future plans (with the exception of the
Nintendo Switch port of
Dragon's Dogma and the return of their
Home Arcade gaming system), there's a rather big chance that
RE3 will be announced at this year's E3 in June, as Capcom has already confirmed that they will be showcasing their new games during the main show. Check it out below:
