Insomniac Games'
Marvel's Spider-Man is one of the most highly anticipated games this year, and with good reason. The amount of care that has gone into making the game can be seen in every single trailer released, as well as the beautiful gameplay shown off at this year's E3.
It goes without saying that fans of the wall-crawler are more than excited to finally get to play the game. Insomniac Games has a great track record when it comes to bringing characters with unique personality traits to life like Ratchet from the
Ratchet & Clank series. Ratchet even shares some personality traits with Spider-Man/Peter Parker—especially when it comes to interacting with other heroes. Sadly, it has been confirmed that
Marvel's Spider-Man will not be featuring any other heroes in the Marvel Universe for Spider-Man to interact with.
The news comes from
VGR, who spotted a tweet by
Marvel's Spider-Man creative director Bryan Intihar who was asked if we would see the Avengers or any type of other heroes in the game, to what he blatantly said "No". It is a shame that the Avengers, or any other heroes from the Marvel Universe, will not show up in the game.
Although, this isn't quite as true since we already know that Miles Morales(former Ultimate Spider-Man, now living in Earth 616) is in the game—that doesn't necessarily mean he already has his powers but it's a start. We've also seen references to the
Avengers tower, as well as Doctor Strange's
Sanctum Santorum, so it is very likely that we will at least get, well, some references to the characters. That said, Spider-Man games have never really needed other heroes to hype themselves up, so with or without these characters, the game will likely end up being just as good. Whatever the case, fans just cannot wait any longer for
Marvel's Spider-Man to come out, Avengers or not.
Sony Interactive Entertainment, Insomniac Games, and Marvel team up to create a brand-new, authentic Spider-Man adventure exclusively for PlayStation 4. Take control of an experienced Peter Parker who is more masterful at fighting crime.
Marvel's Spider-Man will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 7th of September.
