Developer Nacon announced today that its upcoming game Terminator: Survivors has been delayed. Previously slated to launch in early access for PC this October, the game has now been pushed back to 2025. Although it's also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, it never had a release window.

In a statement on social media, the developer wrote: "We are working very hard to bring the post-apocalyptic world of Terminator to life. Our goal is to create a deep immersive experience where each decision you make is crucial to your surviving."

"Over the past few months, we've been really impressed by your enthusiasm and amazed by the response to our announcements, and we know how eagerly fans are awaiting Terminator: Survivors," the developer continued. "To realize our vision, and to make sure to deliver the game that fits your expectations, we need some additional time. Thus, we will be pushing the launch to 2025."

Nacon acknowledged that the delay will likely disappoint many fans, but also acknowledged it's the right move for the game. "We want to do right by this universe, its fans, and our community. In the long term, we believe this is the right call."

Terminator: Survivors is the franchise's first open-world survival game. Set a few years after Skynet attained self-awareness and launched its global nuclear assault, humanity is now fragmented and living in small pockets of alliances and factions — fighting for their own survival.

Players are tasked with surviving this harsh post-apocalyptic world. Playable solo or in co-op, players must scavenge resources to build a base of operations for mankind.

Naturally, players will face all sorts of dangers in this world, including other factions. But perhaps nothing is more dangerous than the single T-800 — a "relentless and formidable hunter that cannot be stopped."

As previously revealed, players will be hunted by a single T-800 in the game, a decision made by the developers for both lore purposes and general gameplay. Since Terminator: Survivors is set in 2009, Skynet's production capabilities haven't quite reached their peak yet. Additionally, having just a single unstoppable machine hunt you, creates  a "sense of dread and urgency," further capturing the "essence of the first two films."

Nacon has been pretty consistent in sharing concept art and key art for Terminator: Survivors. In June, we got our best look at the game through a behind-the-scenes video with the developers, who provided in-depth details about the overall gameplay design.

Terminator: Survivors is an open-world survival game taking place in the world of the famous sci-fi franchise Terminator, created by James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd in 1984. In this original story set after the second film, you play a survivor of Judgement Day, facing a host of dangers thrown up by this post-apocalyptic world.

Terminator: Survivors is now set to arrive in 2025 for PC, and presumably still coming to consoles at a later date.
