Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3 has just been announced, completely out of the blue, by developer Inti Creates — giving players a brand-new entry in the critically acclaimed fast-paced action-adventure series of 2D side-scrolling games— as a Nintendo Switch exclusive title.
The announcement was made during the BitSummit Gaiden event for games produced by independent developers, although not much information about this new entry in the Azure Striker GUNVOLT series was shared, except for an action-packed announcement trailer.
What's interesting about the trailer is that we see a brand-new character being introduced, a girl with a sword that will seemingly be a main character, and we also see Gunvolt himself — who, for some reason unknown, is seen wearing the evil Sumeragi Group's insignia.
The announcement trailer for Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3 also reveals that Inti Creates will be using the same art style and graphics seen in both of the previous Azure Striker GUNVOLT games, as well as the Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX spin-off title, although no release date for the game has been provided just yet.
As per the announcement, Inti Creates also revealed that none other than Keiji Inafune will be working on Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3 as the action supervisor, and that series creator Yoshihisa Tsuda will be returning to direct this new game.
While Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3 was announced as a Nintendo Switch exclusive title, it is important to remember that the series itself has always been exclusive to Nintendo consoles at first, and the games are eventually released for other platforms; in the meantime, however, this game is a Nintendo exclusive.
