A few weeks ago, we reported that a reputable Capcom insider was claimed that the developer was working on a brand-new entry in the Monster Hunter series, and that this mysterious new game would be releasing for the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
As it turns out, the rumours were true, and Capcom did announce Monster Hunter: Rise earlier this morning; revealing that this upcoming title will, indeed, be releasing for the Nintendo Switch next year. To the surprise of many, Capcom wasn't done revealing new games.
That's right, Capcom had one more card up their sleeves, as they also announced Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which is actually quite the surprising announcement to make, since the original game launched for the Nintendo 3DS in 2017 and it always felt more like a "testing the waters" type of game.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is set in the Monster Hunter universe but, much like its predecessor, its focus isn't on hunting monsters per se, as it is a fully fledged role-playing title that will see players going on quests and bonding with monsters they come across along the way.
The developers at Capcom didn't share much about the plot or the gameplay mechanics of this new game, but they did mention that it is expected to launch for the Nintendo Switch at some point during Summer of 2021. What little they did share, however, was revealed on the special Monster Hunter Direct, which we have posted below the announcement trailer for you to watch.
