Biomutant is Experiment 101's debut project. The studio was co-founded in 2015 by Swedish game development veteran Stefan Ljungqvist, a former studio art director and game director at Avalanche Studios and one of the key members on the team behind Mad Max and the Just Cause series. 101's game is also an open-world game, but it's also heavily-influenced by the RPG genre.

The newest gameplay was recorded during the PC Gamer event and spotlights the classic role-playing game features, such as deeply personalisation options, weapon modifications and snippets of open-world. The developer also explains how the Biomutant team approached creating a brand new series.
