Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be releasing in just a couple of days for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This release will take place simultaneously both digitally and physically across the world except for in Russia.
According to a recent report by
Charlie INTEL, Sony Interactive Russia are refusing to release the upcoming first-person shooter video game in the PlayStation Store. This interesting development was subsequently confirmed by a tweet from the official
Call of Duty Twitter account for Russia — which you can check out below.
"At the heart of Modern Warfare is a fully fictional story, carefully crafted to please all players. SIE decided not to sell the game in the Russian PS Store. We look forward to the release of the game in digital form for PC and Xbox on October 25th," the tweet reads when translated to English.
As for the exact reasoning for this sudden and unexpected change, we can only speculate. Given the contents of the aforementioned tweet, it's likely due to something that goes on within the campaign mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Curiously, the game will still release digitally in Russia for the Xbox One and PC.
