Crytek may be facing some major financial problems, but they don't stop the German studio's answer to
PUBG and
Fortnite. Yes,
Hunt: Showdown, which started as a competitive first-person PvP bounty hunting project with elements of survival, is now a battle royale game, but there's a twist as your
Hunt: Showdown hired hunter levels up, gaining skills with each success adding real stakes to the game.
Hunt: Showdown has been available on Steam Early Access since February and Crytek is seemingly ready to launch one of the bigger updates in
Hunt's history. The upcoming expansion will introduce the new
Lawson Delta daytime map that's coming very soon, but it doesn't have a concrete release date just yet. It's a big innovation, as
Hunt's only major map,
Stillwater Bayou, is filled with darkness.
If you're a fan of
Hunt and are worried that the game will lose its heavy atmosphere, you shouldn't be. According to Crytek, the daytime doesn’t detract from the creepy, horror-tinged elements that make
Hunt: Showdown so unique. The IGN crew have released a brand new gameplay trailer that focuses entirely on
Hunt Showdown's upcoming map and you can check it out down below:
You and your partner are members of a secret hunting society that tracks and kills monsters. The bounties are high, but so are the risks. The smallest mistake will cost you everything—your bounty, your gear, your life, and your very soul. Some hunt for wealth, some for power. Some hunt to protect others, some hunt for glory. You must track your quarry through a dark and treacherous world. Winner takes all. Fail, and go straight to hell.
Hunt: Showdown is currently available on Steam Early Access.
