DAUNTLESS Has Hit The 10 Million Player Mark With A Nintendo Switch Version Still To Come Later This Year

In just three weeks, Dauntless has grown to over 10 million players — a figure that'll likely continue to raise with a Nintendo Switch version set to release later in 2019.

Phoenix Labs' fantasy action-RPG Dauntless has hit another milestone. The developer announced that after just three weeks of availability, the game has had 10 million players. Just two weeks ago, the developer celebrated hitting the five million mark after just one week of availability.

Dauntless' servers has some issues early on supported the unexpected number of players, but has since seen two major patches that have seemingly stabilized the game. The first major content expansion is slated to arrive in July, "offering players challenging new tests to the game’s cooperative hunting experience."

For those who haven't played the game, Dauntless is essentially Monster Hunter-lite, where you and a group of friends venture into the wild and slay giant, dangerous beasts. It helps that the game is free-to-play and supports cross-play and cross-save so that you can carry your progress across the various platforms that it's available for.

Speaking of platforms, Phoenix Labs announced this week that Dauntless will be coming to the Nintendo Switch. While a demo of the Switch version is playable at E3, Dauntless won't launch on the hybrid console until "later" in 2019. With its arrival on the Switch, we can probably expect the number of players to grow even more.

As a Slayer, you are all that stands between your world and the Behemoths that seek to devour it. Form your hunting party and battle boss-sized monsters in a variety of challenging co-op battles. Add to your arsenal by crafting deadly weapons and powerful armour from the very creatures you slay - all in a massive, free-to-play online world.

Dauntless is free now on PS4, Xbox One and the Epic Games Store (PC).
