Dead Space 2 Given The Green Light?

A recent report that several EA franchises have been given the green light for sequels caught our attention. Here's what we know so far.

According to a report that was aired November 5 on XPlay, during an investor call EA's CEO confirmed that Dead Space, Mirror's Edge and the Mercenaries franchise would all have another title added to the respective franchises.

Intrigued, and excited at the prospect of another Dead Space title (read our review here), we quickly fired up Outlook and sent an email to our contact over there.

What was their response?

"Dead Space 2, Mirror’s Edge 2 and Mercs 3 have not been confirmed or announced. I'm sure there is a ton of chatter out there, but nothing official."

So what does it mean? Just what we were told: nothing "official." "Official" being the key word. If the initial report is true, and we think that it probably is, the fact that EA stated to investors that the sequels are in-the-works means there is probably a good chance that we'll see Isaac Clarke and Faithe again.

The bigger question is whether or not it'll be in time for Halloween 2009.
