Dragon Quest is one of Square Enix's most sprawling franchises and one of the biggest franchises in gaming history. From its humble beginnings back in 1986 to the now 11 installments that have helped to create this sprawling fantasy world, the Dragon Quest series has helped to create some of the largest fantasy brands the world knows of today.
One of the incredibly entertaining things about the franchise is how they are able to spread out to different forms of media, including Japanese manga and anime along with other video game titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which saw all of the heroes of the previous games become available as an immensely powerful fighter. The most recent game in the main series, Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age, was released in 2017, and while there has not been a sequel announced, it appears that this title still has one more bout left in them!
Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition is an epic remaster coming to current-gen consoles and PC and promises a ton of visual and gameplay improvements from its original Switch version that include a 16-bit mode, new character levels, and an improved score! Square Enix has also confirmed that a completely playable 10-hour demo is available now for players ahead of its December release!
The best part about the new demo, according to Square Enix, is that all of the progress made in-game will carry over into the main release! We would love to hear your thoughts on the news and the demo itself in the comments below!
The game is set in the world of Erdrea, and begins as the kingdom of Dundrasil is invaded and destroyed by an army of monsters. The protagonist, an infant during the attack, survives and is found floating down a river by an old man named Chalky in the village of Cobblestone.
Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4th, and the new demo is available now!
