The first big reveal of The Game Awards 2018 has been spoiled, as the show's host Geoff Keighley just announced on Twitter that Obsidian Entertainment's new game published by Private Division will be officially spotlighted during the upcoming celebration of video gaming. What's even better, this mysterious game is an RPG, which is great news, as that genre suits Obsidian extremely well.
This year's Game Awards will be held on December 6, featuring the return of Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima (there's even a chance a brand new Death Stranding gameplay trailer will premiere during the main show), all but confirmed FoxNext Games' Alien multiplayer shooter for next-gen consoles, and smaller updates on already available titles like Rainbow Six: Siege, PUBG, and Fortnite.
While we know next to nothing about Obsidian-Private Division’s co-production, every fan of Diablo who felt betrayed during this year's BlizzCon should be more than happy to hear that it's not a mobile title. It will be interesting to see what this game really is, but it most definitely isn't an Xbox exclusive (despite Microsoft's decision to purchase Obsidian), as Private Division is a multiplatform publisher.
