Many have been asking, and we finally have the answer as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Productions finally give us a release date for Guardians of Middle-Earth, the upcoming competitive multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game based on The Lord of the Rings.
The digital versions of Guardians of Middle-Earth will be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade beginning 4th December, 2012. Post-launch DLC will also be available digitally, and can be purchased via Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network individually or as a Season Pass.
Retail versions of the game will be available beginning December 7, 2012. Included with the retail purchase of the game is pre-paid, discounted access to the digital content offered post-launch, along with PSN vouchers equal in value to the full game, plus the Season Pass of downloadable content. Digital content will consist of game maps, one bonus gameplay mode and several additional good and evil characters, some of which will be based on key characters in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey motion picture, which is set for release on 14th December, 2012.
The official box art for the game was also released today, and it features iconic characters from the epic fantasy adventure: Gandalf, Legolas and Sauron.
