Sony's State of Play delivered a blockbuster for fighting game fans. Arc System Works showcased a stunning two-minute trailer for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, confirming an August 6th launch on PS5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). The reveal packed in a full team debut, story teases, Episode Mode details, and pre-order incentives, building serious hype for the 4v4 tag-team brawler.

The trailer opens with cosmic devastation on Chandilar, the Shi'ar Empire homeworld, where bodies of Deathbird and Gladiator lie amid a planet-shattering cataclysm. A purple storm engulfs Earth, hinting at a multiversal threat uniting heroes and villains. This sets the stage for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' narrative, blending American comics with Japanese manga flair through motion comics illustrated by top Marvel artists and the story is penned by a writer from the original Marvel comics.

The Unbreakable X-Men showcase flashy team-ups: a massive ultimate fusing Storm's gales, Wolverine's frenzy, Magik's portals, and Danger's constructs into screen-filling spectacle. Danger, the sentient X-Mansion AI from 2005's Astonishing X-Men, marks a fresh addition with Shi'ar tech holograms and adaptive offense.

Arc System Works, masters of anime-style fighters like Guilty Gear Strive and Dragon Ball FighterZ, promised 20 characters at launch, with the eight previously teased (Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Storm, Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider). The trailer spotlights the first complete team: Unbreakable X-Men, featuring Storm as leader alongside Wolverine, Magik, and Danger which rounds the revealed roster up to 11 that we know of.

Pre-orders open February 19, 2026, with enticing bonuses across editions:

  • Standard ($59.99) - Base game + pre-order cosmetics: Infinity Gauntlet (lobby equip), Baby Groot (pet), Cosmic Surfboard (ride).
  • Digital Deluxe ($84.99) -  All above + Year 1 Pass (4 characters, 1 stage), Howard the Duck avatar, Cosmo pet.
  • Ultimate ($99.99) - Full Deluxe + 5 costumes (Spider-Man Advanced Suit 2.0, Storm Punk Rock, Iron Man/Cap Classic, Doctor Doom Supreme Ruler), animated chromatics for all 20 launch roster.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls debuted at Summer Game Fest 2025 with 4v4 tag-team action in anime aesthetics. Closed betas tested core mechanics: assists, cinematic supers, lobby customization. 64-player lobbies and Episode Mode round out features.

Arc System Works' track record on fighting games with Guilty Gear and FighterZ sets Tokon up as a contender against Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. 20 launch characters ensure variety for players. Later on Year 1 update will add four more plus a new stage. PS5/PC cross-play has been confirmed as well which is a great feature to add. Overall, it looks like they are making excellent choices to have Tokon launch with a fire behind it.

August 6th can't arrive soon enough. Pre-order the game February 19th through the PlayStation Store, Steam, Epic. as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls assembles the ultimate roster.
