Mortal Kombat 11 is really giving people a lot to talk about, as it has been really crushing it since its release at the end of April; without a doubt, one of the studio's most profitable launches in the
Mortal Kombat series' history.
According to a
recent study by SuperData, NetherRealm Studios'
Mortal Kombat 11 has managed to sell a staggering 1.8 million digital copies across all of the available platforms the game released on. The study also reveals that the game outsold
Mortal Kombat X by 400,000 units; something that SuperData attributes to the growth in digital download rates.
The results that SuperData collected also agree with the recent study by the NPD Group, which revealed that
Mortal Kombat 11 had managed to rise on top of Bend Studio's
Days Gone by becoming the undisputed
best-selling title in the month of April, and some information released by the PlayStation Blog; revealing that NetherRealm's new fighting game was the
best-selling title on the PlayStation 4 Store in April.
While the NPD Group and PlayStation Blog information revealed that
Mortal Kombat 11 was selling well, neither revealed exactly how many copies the game had sold. SuperData at least allows us to predict a little bit more how well the game is selling; keeping in mind that 1.8 million copies amount to digital sales alone.
It will be definitely interesting to see NetherRealm Studios reveal the number of copies, both physical and digital, that
Mortal Kombat 11 has managed to sell since its release on the 23rd of April. Hopefully we'll get an official report in the coming days.
