In May of this year, Capcom announced that they were still not done supporting Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and that Season 5 would be releasing soon; this in response to the overwhelmingly positive reception that the game's Season 4 had.
Season 5 was also confirmed to bring with it five new fighters to join the roster in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, although more details about these new characters were not revealed; still, pretty exciting news for fans of the popular fighting series.
Today Capcom has shared a 9-minute-long video that sees Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto revealing that Street Fighter Alpha's Dan Hibiki and Rose, as well as Street Fighter III: Third Strike's Oro will be joining the game's roster in the coming months.
The developers also revealed that Dan is expected to become available with an update that is expected to roll out this Winter, which will be including 4 costumes for Dan, the Capcom Pro Tour 2021 stage, new battle mechanics, and new battle balance to keep things fair for everybody.
Rose will become available in Spring of 2021, the update will feature a brand-new stage plus 5 costumes for Rose. Likewise, the next update will be releasing Oro plus three costumes for him, and this is where things get even more interesting, as a new character that will be making her debut was also revealed.
Rival Schools: United by Fate's Akira Kazama has been revealed to join the roster in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition — as the very first character from this neglected series of fighting games developed and published by Capcom — who is expected to become available with the update in Summer of 2021, and wil lalso bring with it a Rival Schools-themed stage.
These are only four of the five characters that Season 5 is supposed to be adding to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. Capcom confirms that more information about the fifth mysterious character will be revealed at a later date, although it wouldn't be surprising if the announcement would be made at some point halfway through 2021.
