The Capcom Cup 2018 had an interesting announcement to make for fans of
Street Fighter as it was revealed that Kage was joining the roster of playable characters in
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
While many may be fooled into thinking that Kage is simply another iteration of Evil Ryu, this is not the case since Kage is the embodiment of the Satsui no Hado that Ryu had inside him—although Kage does, indeed, borrow some of the same techniques that other Shotokan users like Ryu, Akuma, and Ken use.
Today, the official Twitter account of
Street Fighter has shared two pieces of concept art; one showing us what Kage could've looked like, and the other one showing us the end product.
As you can see, and due to the character's real nature of actually being the human form of the Satsui no Hado, Kage was looking a lot more demonic and almost made out of pure dark energy—which, to be fair, looks like it could've been a more inspired design than just another "Ryu-looking character".
