Square Enix has recently announced that they are bringing back one of the most underrated spin-offs in the
Final Fantasy series:
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was originally developed by The Game Designers Studio, which was a division of Square back in the late 90s, and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003. Unlike other games in the
Final Fantasy series,
Crystal Chronicles focused more on multiplayer gameplay while still keeping some of its action and role-playing elements intact.
In
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles players are introduced to a different combat system that wasn't turn based—as opposed to most games in the
Final Fantasy series—giving players a more dynamic approach to tackling battles.
While reception for
Crystal Chronicles was very positive, it is a shame that the game never got a proper sequel—so it is nice to see this very underrated
Final Fantasy title get the attention it deserves by Square Enix. The trailer states that
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is a work in progress but is expected to be available
in 2019.
Take a look:
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
