After a slight delay, which otherwise would've seen the game releasing in November of last year, DOOM Eternal finally hit store shelves in March — excluding the Nintendo Switch version, since it still doesn't have an official release date — and there is still more content coming its way.
While neither Bethesda nor id Software have revealed exactly when this content will be releasing, they have just recently shared some information that will give players a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming update, and it seems that it will be quite generous.
According to the developers, they are currently working hard on Update 1 for all of the platforms, and these include optimisations, bug fixes, and a new campaign. This could also confirm that the Nitnendo Switch version will launch either alongside Update 1, or prior to its release, although the developer doesn't mention this at all.
Bethesda reveals that players will be able to crank up DOOM Eternal's difficulty level with Empowered Demons, and the way this will work is actually rather interesting.
Whenever a player is killen in single player campaign, any demon that killed the player is revealed to be transported to another player's game, although this demon will now be empowered, and will be even more difficult to kill. This will give the demon's slayer health and ammo, as well as bonus XP for in-game events.
Some issues have also been addressed in both Battlemode and Single Player Mode, and this is all thanks to Bethesda and id Software listening to feedback from players, so both of these modes will now meet expectations satisfactorily.
The developers have not revealed when Update 1 will become available, but they did share some sneak peak screenshots that give players a first look at two of the new areas that will be added in the upcoming DLC campaign for DOOM Eternal.
