Pete Hines, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications at Bethesda, recently sat down with Metro and discussed the future of their popular franchises: Wolfenstein & Dishonored. It's good new for fans of those game series as; Hines confirmed that there will be new installments in each.
Asked whether a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is on the cards, Hines enthusiastically confirmed that there will be: "Absolutely we're making a Wolfenstein III. [MachineGames] said on stage that they're taking a break from the larger story to do [Wolfenstein: Youngblood]. But we all have to see how that ends."
During June's E3 event MachineGames unveiled a new Wolfenstein title, more along the lines of a spinoff from the main saga, named Youngblood - which focused on B.J. Blazkowicz's two daughters, seemingly following his demise. So, seeing as B.J. managed to survive the events of Wolfenstein II, it seems that a third game will likely squeeze in between The New Colossus and Youngblood - and could perhaps see B.J.'s final stand.
And on the topic of Dishonored; with the devs behind the two first-person fantasy games currently working on another project, Hines clarified that the studio are capable of multitasking: "I wouldn't read too much into that... Arkane has two studios, they're working on a number of things. That's no different than Todd Howard saying, 'I'm gonna make a Fallout game and then I'm gonna make Starfield before I go back to The Elder Scrolls 6.' He didn't say 'I'm never making another...' there's like, 'We have an idea for another thing here, we have an idea for another there.'"
What do you think of Hines' comments? Are you a fan of either franchise? Which are you looking forward to the most?
