After spending the past few months in various stages of beta, Legends of Runeterra has officially launched. The latest title from Riot Games is a collectible strategy card game set in the same universe as their hit MOBA League of Legends.
Legends of Runeterra's release is accompanied by the new Rising Tides expansion, which adds the new Bilgewater region of Runeterra. The port city of Bilgewater is home to serpent hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world. In Legends of Runeterra, it introduces five new Champions and 60-plus unique cards (over 120 total new cards).
Playing off the theme of Bilgewater as a place where seafaring scountreds risk it all for freedom and fortune, the set is all about taking risks and outwiting your opponents. It introduces a new Plunder mechanic that triggers an effect for a played unit if you damage the enemy Nexus in the same round.
The Rising Tides expansion also introduces a new Champion for each of the six regions that already exist in the game, balance changes, and new mechanics and keywords that'll offer additional strategies.
Legends of Runeterra is a free-to-play game and considered to be one of the more fair ones in terms of fairness. While you can purchase cards in-game, it's also pretty generous in allowing players to unlock them.
If playing on mobile, Legends of Runeterra requires a a minimum iOS9 and Arm64 processor. It's not recommended on playing 1GB RAM devices such as iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPad Air 1. For Android, you'll need OS 5.0, 2GB RAm and GPU Adreno 306 and equivalents or better.
