These days, we're used to games having their release dates pushed back. In a welcomed change from the norm, Warner Bros. Games has announced that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will now launch one week earlier.
Originally slated to release on May 29th, the game will now be available on May 22, 2026. Those who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will get to play three days sooner with the 72-hour early access now beginning on May 19th.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be playable at launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). The game is also slated to arrive on Nintendo Switch, but not until later this year.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight celebrates the DC super hero's rich history. The open world action-adventure invites players to embark on Bruce Wayne's epic journey to become the hero of Gotham City. The game will feature content inspired by decades of Batman films, television shows, comic books, and games, combined with DC lore and TT Games’ signature brand of fun-filled LEGO humor.
The main campaign follows Bruce Wayne as he progresses from his origin to becoming a legendary hero. He trains with The League of Shadows, protects Gotham City, and builds a new family of allies including Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, and Batgirl. The game allows players to control seven characters -- Batman, Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Talia al Ghul -- each with unique abilities and signature gadgets to solve crimes and complete challenges.
Outside of the main story, players can freely explore Gotham City and discover hidden secrets and surprises. There are 100 different Batsuits to collect and more than 20 vehicles inspired by the Dark Knight’s 86-year history. Additionally, over 250 Batcave props and trophies can be gathered to decorate and showcase within the Batcave.
With the launch of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight just weeks away, pre-orders for the game are now live. All pre-orders will receive The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit at launch, inspired by the acclaimed comic book series. Additionally, anyone who has a Warner Bros. Games account can unlock the Golden Age Batsuit at launch, a classic outfit based on the Caped Crusader’s debut look from Detective Comics #27 (1939).
