"Where's Hawkeye?" chanted a dissatisfied member of the audience at Square Enix's E3 2019 press conference. This is a question that crossed basically everybody's minds when
Marvel's Avengers was revealed during the recent gaming event.
In the game, the titular team consists of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and The Hulk. It was also revealed that the game will feature Hank Pym, a man with shrinking technology, who will almost certainly don the title of Ant-Man.
Apart from the afformentioned heckling; Hawkeye didn't even get a mention during the
Marvel's Avengers segment Square's presentation. However, Crystal Dynamics did mention that they would be adding a plethora of characters after the game's launch. Fans could only hope that Hawkeye would be one of them.
Thankfully, the director of the upcoming Marvel title, Noah Hughes recently did an interview with
CBR in which he confirms that the fan-favourite marksman will indeed be one of the playable characters that will be revealed at a later date.
"I assure you, we didn't forget about Hawkeye. We have plenty of roster and hero reveals down the road," Hughes stated. As for any other post-launch characters; Ant-Man is a highly likely contender as well as Nick Fury - a character that we know will feature in
Marvel's Avengers thanks to some leaked gameplay footage.
Marvel's Avengers is set to release on May 15th, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
