After months of keeping
Marvel's Avengers gameplay locked behind closed doors and private showings, Square Enix has finally lifted the curtain.
Today at Gamescom, Square Enix published gameplay footage ofthe A-Day Prologue, a "Hero tutorial" that introduces players to the various Avengers and their powers. In the video,w e see Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor battle Taskmaster and his army of mercenaries in the opening level of the game. Some of this gameplay was shown in the initial reveal of
Marvel's Avengers, but presented in more of a trailer format.
This is 18-minutes of unedited, uninterrupted gameplay. In between these gameplay segments are cutscenes that create more of a cinematic feel, almost as if you are playing a movie.
As for the setup of the clip, it begins at A-Day with the unveiling of a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco along with a massive helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. But as we've seen before, the celebration turns deadly after a catastrophic "accident" that ultimately the Avengers are blamed for.
Marvel’s Avengers is a story-driven, third-person action-adventure game.
