In case the title didn't make it obvious, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will see Task Force X set out to, well, kill the Justice League. They do so after the team falls under the control of Brainiac, but after a recent plot leak surfaced, a great many fans were unhappy about those deaths.

The one which generated the most controversy was Batman; the game will serve as the late Kevin Conroy's final performance, and many argued that to have the Dark Knight die at the hands of Harley Quinn in such a brutal and disrespectful fashion did the beloved actor a disservice.

That's a strange argument as there's no way Rocksteady could have known Conroy would pass away after recording his lines and he must have been happy working on this apparent send-off for the Arkham version of Batman to sign on in the first place. Even so, it appears the situation was blown out of proportion.

eXputer has sifted through the leak and reports, "Make no mistake, the Justice League survives the events of Suicide Squad. From what I’ve been able to uncover through my own data mining and a month of research (and counting), each 'death' is presented with several hints to the audience that they’re fakeouts."

"Flash’s death takes place away from prying eyes with many questioning whether it even happened," the site continues. "Later in the game, Task Force X (the in-universe name for the Suicide Squad) attempts to storm Brainiac’s ship, but are thwarted by a shield apparition created by Green Lantern."

"After Deadshot (who famously never misses) finally lands the killing blow, Green Lantern falls to his death - but the shield stays up. 'What, did you miss?' Captain Boomerang asks. Deadshot laughs knowingly under his breath."

They later explain that the seemingly dead heroes will return in post-launch content, with the campaign concluding with the Justice League reunited and ready to take their revenge on a villain described here as being "Multiversal" in nature.

We don't know how League survives or why Task Force X essentially fakes their deaths, but this is bound to calm down those who have argued Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has ruined the legacy of the "Arkhamverse."

Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
