Last month, the official website of the
Plants vs. Zombies franchise was updated to tease that PopCap Games are hard at work on a new installment. We know that it's going to release on both PC and consoles — thanks to the website update.
However, at the time, we were none the wiser of whether it would be a third
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare multiplayer gamer or something new entirely. Now, though, we're pretty sure that we know what it will be called — and it doesn't seem to be
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville is a title which Electronic Arts recently filed to trademark. This was first reported by
Gematsu and can be verified by the European Union Intellectual Property Office's records —
which you can check out here. An interesting tidbit of information is that the upcoming game is being developed under the code-name: Picnic.
It's certainly a title that's in-keeping with the franchise. We're certain that it's a video game rather than an animated feature or something of that sort thanks to the trademark's description. However, we still don't have a clue what type of game it will be. Another third-person shooter? Perhaps — but why not name it
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 if that were the case?
