A recent report by DualShockers has revealed that Double Fine Productions' upcoming Psychonauts sequel has been delayed until 2020. Apparently, the studio recently put out a press release stating the unfortunate news.

Psychonauts 2 was announced back in 2015 and has been subjected to multiple delays since then. During Microsoft's E3 2019 conference, a new Psychonauts 2 trailer was released along with the announcement that Double Fine Productions had been acquired by Xbox. This acquisition could have something to do with the delay, given that it was originally going to be published by Starbreeze.

Despite Microsoft now owning Double Fine, the Psychonauts sequel will release on that PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One and PC. Like its predecessor, Psychonauts 2 will follow Raz and pick up immediately after the events of Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin.

The game was originally set to release in 2018, then was pushed back to the current year, and it now going to be released in 2020. We'll let you know when a specific date is announced or it's delayed yet again - here's hoping the latter doesn't happen.

Psychonauts 2 will release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2020.
